Swiss Tribology

The Swiss Tribology Association

was founded in 2006

at the EMPA in Dübendorf, Switzerland.

Our purpose is to promote the exchange of information and ideas between individuals and groups interested in tribology; to organize meetings and conferences on tribology for members and other interested persons; to promote cooperation in the field of tribology in applied and basic research as well as in teaching; to support and facilitate communication between business and academic research; to represent Switzerland in international tribology organizations.

The World Tribology Congress (WTC) 2030 is coming to Germany and Switzerland

At its meeting on 20 September 2026, the Executive Committee of the International Tribology Council (ITC) decided to award the World Tribology Congress 2030 to Germany. The German Society for Tribology (GfT) is grateful to the ITC Committee for the opportunity to host the global tribological community.

The WTC 2030 is planned in two sections:

The hosting of the ITC’s prestigious World Tribology Congress, which takes place every four years, is in line with the strategic plans of GfT and SwissTrib. Good accessibility and scientific expertise characterize both venues. The proposal was carefully developed by the boards of GfT and SwissTrib in order to meet the selection criteria of the ITC and to be able to guarantee a successful conference.
